Support groups play an important role in this matter. They give advice, help and support to cancer patients, their relatives and friends. They are usually voluntary organisations formed by people in the same predicament, who are willing to help and support each other. Chat rooms can also help you face the issues surrounding cancer. This site, maintained by the University of Pennsylvania Cancer Center, aims to inform patients, physicians, and families about the types of cancer, its prevention, symptom management, treatment, etc. Intended for cancer patients and health care professionals , this site with over 3000 pages, provides information, advice, news and a directory of support groups. The site also has links to other Internet sources of information on cancer. Educare focuses on empowering women and their families by providing them with educational information regarding breast health and breast cancer . Friends in need is a support and chat forum for breast cancer patients, offering breast cancer tips, cancer information, survivor's stories, newsletters, prayer requests, advice and poetry. Supported by private contributions, the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization, dedicated to providing information and education to women about breast cancer. Children's Cancer Web is an independent non-profit site established to provide a directory of childhood cancer resources. The site lists several children's cancer-support groups. Founded by the parents of a child with cancer, CNCF based in Bloomingdale, IL, is a non-profit organization providing support, advocacy and funding medical research projects on neuroblastoma. The site includes information about the organization, news, events, and resources.
